Once you have a number from us you will want to set up your phone or phone system to make use of it. Also see out help and tips section.
SNOM phoneThe simplest setup is a SNOM phone allowing incoming and outgoing calls using a number. The set up is basically the same for any SIP phone. When you ordered your number it was set up automatically for delivery to A&A SIP Server. You were emailed a username, outgoing-password, and server name.
To configure your SNOM phone, go to the web configuration page (enter its IP in to your browser) and select one of the identity tabs on the left.
Displayname is whatever you want, typically your phone number. Fill in the username you were given (the phone number) in to Account, and the outgoing-password given in to Password. Enter the server name (normally yournumber.call.me.uk) in to Registrar. Finally, select Save.
Calling 17070 from your line will read back your number and is a good test that you have correctly configured your phone.
You can now make and revieve calls.
The control pages on our web site can be used to allow you to set up your phone numbers. You were emailed the login and password. Login and select the number. You have the option to select IAX delivery.
You need to enter the hostname (or IP) of your asterisk server for IAX delivery, and you can optionally enter a username and password that will be sent. If you set a username, you put it in as a config entry in iax.conf (e.g. [username]). Use secret=password to define the password asterisk will expect and ensure you direct the calls to a sensible context.
If you want to make outgoing calls using IAX from that number then you must set an outgoing-password on the control pages. Then simply send your calls to us using Dial(IAX2/username:outgoing-password@speechless.aaisp.net.uk/${EXTEN})
If you would like to set up a fax number, log in to the control pages and select Fax. You need to put an email address for the fax. Faxes are emailed to you. In some cases you can choose direct delivery, in which case the fax is received by an imtermediate company and converted to a multi page tiff image and emailed (which can take several minutes) - this bypasses our call servers. If you select faxes via A&A then the fax is received by us, and converted to a PDF with a reduced size image of the front page included in-line in the email.
If you would like to set a voicemail, log in to the control pages and select the voicemail timeout. Put in your email address. The recording is emailed within a few minutes of the call ending. You can select voicemail direct in some cases, in which case all calls go to voicemail with a generic outgoing message. If you select via A&A then you can have voicemail on no answer if you wish, and calling out from your number to 1571 allows you to set up a custom outgoing message.
